Pretty Pig Design

Black on Black: Made to Order

Featured Shop
Pretty Pig Design
Be sure to visit Pretty Pig Design http://www.etsy.com/shop/PrettyPigDesign where you will find unique statement jewelry specially designed and hand created for you!

Going into college, I had full intention in becoming a kindergarten teacher. The classroom experience left me with the discovery about my creative passion through the abstract nature of elementary coloring and making crafts. The revelation of the artist trapped inside me has compelled me to free her! Changing my life course, I graduated with a degree in Graphic Communications with a minor in Art. In the never ending pursuit of the perfect accessory to the cute ensemble (completed with a perfect pair of boots) I stumbled into jewelry design. I sought out a few classes and became totally addicted! I enjoy experimenting with different textures and color combinations to make fashionable and practical art. My favorite current creations are fabric flowers and buttons; flower button necklaces, hair clips, headbands…endless potential!

If I could travel back in time I would like to have been either an actress from the Golden Age of Cinema, or a Big Band singer. Since that isn’t a possibility; I draw inspiration from watching vintage movies (Cary Grant, Doris Day, Katherine Hepburn, etc.), and am influenced by their soft clean lines. I like to add a kick of color or texture to make the style a little more modern and personal.
I like my workspace to be organized and clean, but if I were to be totally honest, I would have to say neither of those words describes my craft room. I am very much a visual processer, so it is important for me to be able to see all of the materials I am working with at one glance. To aide in this creative process, I have built an environment where all my tools hang on a peg board; and the materials are sorted by color into glass jars and clear storage containers. This method allows the materials to be both creatively organized and easily accessible.

As a side note… growing up, I was heavily involved in 4-H and showed pigs at the county fair. Since then, friends and family have contributed to a sizable ceramic and stuffed animal pig collection. As an adult, I have never let the emotional attachment go, and my shop name is a homage to a childhood reminder of the cute cuddly image of the pretty pink pig.

Bling N Things by Penny

Bling N Things by Penny

Enjoy a visit to Penny's Etsy shop where you will find creative one of a kind treasures!

by Penny

I am married, live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my two Miniature Pinschers and an Amazon Parrot. Luckily my husband doesn't mind living with a creative woman...he never knows what will be changed or added when he comes home!

I can remember being creative all my life. Both of my grandmothers and my mother are all really creative women so it was natural that I would follow in their paths. I learned to crochet at age 11 from my Nonna and everything else from my mom and Grandmother. My Mom and I still go to numerous craft events and classes when we can, we have a blast!

I always had a crafting class weather it was wood working, metal shop, arts and crafts or sewing all throughout my school years. I started selling on Etsy after my shoulder therapist said that beading would be good therapy for my carpal tunnel. So after accumulating numerous earrings and bracelets Bling N Things by Penny was started. A girl can only wear so much jewelry, lol.

I have since expanded to selling my Scrapbooks, Journals, Jewelry Boxes as well as my Jewelry. I never know what I'll be in the mood to create and I love the idea that I can share my items with people all over the world. When I had my first sale I was so excited as I am with every sale there after and the first international sale I was scared to death that it wouldn't make it there, lol.

Since then I have become a leader on the wonderful STAT (Self Taught Artists Treasury) Team where I have made friends with some really talented people who are also so very supportive!

Moonlight Shimmer Beaded Jewelry

Julie is a self proclaimed "bead addict". As a self taught artist, Julie shares how she came about designing and creating such stunning jewelry..."I fell in love with handmade jewelry in 2010 while on a vacation trip. I visited a bead store and bought a pair of wire wrapped beaded earrings. A few months later I bought a beginner's jewelry making kit and started teaching myself via instructional websites and YouTube videos. After some trial and error, I improved my techniques, figured out my personal style of jewelry, and started crafting up a storm."

Moonlight Shimmer specializes in earrings and necklaces. Featured items include wire crochet necklaces, beaded necklaces, sparkly earrings, and charm earrings. Be sure to visit her etsy shop, just click on the link below!

Moonlight Shimmer
Artist  Julie Wylie

http://www.etsy.com/shop/MoonlightShimmer

I started making jewelry about two years ago. I'm mostly self taught, but I now take an occasional class when I can learn a new technique. My products are all centered around beads.

I picked Moonlight Shimmer for my Etsy shop name because at the time I was mostly making really sparkly jewelry. Over time I've branched out more and found that some of my best selling items now are chunky stone necklaces and beaded wire crochet bracelets.

My workspace is mobile, and I end up beading wherever feels right that night. My photo is of me at the dining room table.

Sometimes I bead in front of my computer, or the TV, or at craft night at my local bead supply store. I store all of my supplies in tackle boxes. That makes them easy to pick up and move to a different room. I've also found that tackle boxes are usually cheaper than specialized crafting containers.

Jewelry Designer ~ Marge Mills

Personal Designz
http://www.etsy.com/shop/PersonalDesignz

I started jewelry design about 7 years ago. Although I do all forms of Jewelry Design, my main focus is on Wire Wrapping. I love the technique and have even come up with my own style of "Free Form Wire Wrapping" . This gives me the opportunity to show off more of the gemstone that I am working with than the traditional form of wire wrapping as you do not have to cover as much of the stone to hold it in place. This lets the true beauty of the gemstone come out in the piece.

I have also tried beading, polymer clay, silver metal clay and seed beadwork. But I always come back to my wire wrapping. Sometimes I will just see a gemstone that calls out to me to make a setting for it. But a lot of the time it is a client who is responsible for my return to bending wires.I love to design settings for gemstones and actually spend a lot of my time designing pieces with stones my clients have that they love but are just not happy with in their present setting. I take out the stones and redesign a new piece for them that they will enjoy with stones that have sentimental meaning to them...This brings me as much joy as it does them to see that stone in the new design.

All of my designs are one of a kind...I like that I can offer that to my clients.

That is what sets us apart from the jewelry found in department stores... handcrafted jewelry should have an individuality about it that the client can not find in just any store. I love being able to give that option to them.
My inspiration in the arts comes from my Mother... she was a gifted artist... and a career seamstress. I never grew to love sewing although I was taught from an early age and can do what I need to when the need arises to sew, but the love for art became evident when I started to paint.I owe that to a client of mine.. I am a retired colorist/stylist. I had a very dear client who was a gifted oil painter. I always envied her ability and one day as we were discussing her latest art piece, I told her how much I envied her being able to put the ideas in her head down on canvas. She quickly told me that she would mentor me in my attempt to paint and that if she felt that I did not have the potential, as a former teacher she would tell me and I would know if I had any ability or not. That was 12 years ago and I still love to paint. The love for the arts spilled over into jewelry design some 5 years later and I have never turned back since. I love what I do and if it gives others pleasure, then it is that much better.

I urge every person who has that inner desire to create to go for it, do whatever it is that you have that desire to do. You will get such enjoyment out of creating and what you create may
just bring joy to another. We all have abilities that we are not aware of and sometimes it just takes another person to bring out the best in us...

I am fortunate enough to have a 2 story house with a loft upstairs which is my little corner of the world. My office is there as well as my art studio. My first love is oil painting  and I still try to devote time to it whenever I get the chance. The room is large enough that I have a corner dedicated to jewelry design. I love to go to my private space for some real quiet and relaxation time.

Small Shiny Objects

Be sure to visit Sarah's lovely etsy shop  http://www.etsy.com/shop/smallshinyobjects
where you will find a bounty of beautiful jewelry, gifts and home decor abound.

by Small Shiny Objects
Small Shiny Objects is a shop full of ever-changing beaded gifts and jewelry. Like the shop name suggests, "small shiny objects" have always been a weakness of mine, so if it sparkles, I'm adding it in there somehow - be it natural gemstones, fancy glass, crystal, or other fascinating piece to work into the mix. My favorite things to make as of late are the beaded vases and fishbowls - I make the top ring elastic, to make the covers easily removable (and the glass washable), but use nymo thread for the rest of the netting, to keep it fluid.

The same goes into making Christmas ornaments during the holidays (they take awhile and I sold out quickly last year, so I'm actually working on some already for next winter).

For those just starting out on Etsy, I'd say this - good photos are SO important! I can't even stress how much better my shop began to look (and how much more it was being noticed) after investing in a decent digital camera and a photo box to get those items pictured "just right".

If you can't swing the dough for a photo box, though, try natural (but not glaring) daylight to get the truest colors in your pics. Really, it does a world of good. And last but not least, don't get so wrapped up in the selling end of your craft if it starts to take away from the joy of the crafting itself. I've made that mistake more than once, only to realize that beading is nothing if not fun - and if I'm having fun, well then - that's always something. ( :

Sincerely, Sarah

by Burning Moon
Greetings,my name is Luna and I am the owner of Burning Moon Products.I have always had a passion for art and crafts since I was a child whether it was making birthday cards for friends or making holiday ornaments for my family.I had always pictured myself doing something I loved for a living such as becoming a Vet (which I hope to one day still accomplish) but I never thought my passion for art would one day inspire me to open up my own little Etsy shop,I originally started crafting again shortly after my daughter was born and from that came everything that I make now.

I have owned my Etsy shop for a little over a year and I am very proud with how far I have come so far. I love helping out new Etsy shops trying to reach the same goals as mine I offer tips, guides and even free promotion to other Etsy shops I guess you can say helping others is another passion of mine as well. I love to see others happy whether its by helping the create a better environment in their shops or from someone buying a piece of my art and completely loving it.

Wonderful New Homes Around the Globe

"Like an adventure, the materials I use are sought everywhere and assembled into the making of a unique and delightful piece of handmade jewelry". Jessie's wonderful etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/Zosterops has many "creations to meet anyone's content".

by Zosterops
Hello! How are you doing? This is Jessie from Hong Kong. It is rainy season here and the big golden sun is having a vacation. Etsy was the place I stumbled upon while gift-searching for something unique. What a bustling flow of creativity out of imagination I have encountered! Little anticipation had I of setting up a shop of my own at the time. Zosterops, the little jewelry shop run by me, is heading for its first anniversary ever since its first listing appeared!

The shop is called after the species of my favorite white-eye songbirds. The model on the banner was a baby at the time; her features were yet to become prominent. It comes as no surprise that my jewelry has many bird themes and I am glad that a number of my feather friends have found wonderful new homes around the globe.

I love sterling silver and glass beads. But when it comes to creation, the other materials are not overlooked; be it stone, wood, metal or resin.... So many a time my jewelry was said to be "whimsical". I guess it reflects a part of me as I opt to live life light-hearted. I like to make my pieces simple and smooth. To help it accomplished, I find having the right bits a must. It can be the size, the shape, the color, the texture or the technique.... and I am afraid the list is inconclusive and it varies case by case.

Jewelry making is a self-taught pastime. It gives me immense pleasure. I treasure the time when I can be alone mixing and matching all the components I have in hand and observing what else I am in need of for my near-finished projects or the upcoming ones. In the meantime, I have fallen for cabochons and I am looking for matching mountings.

If you happen to be around, please stop by browsing my shop and the other ones. I am sure you would stumble upon something you enjoy. Perhaps your shop is on the way to open and I would come visiting one day! Thanks, Kerry for sharing me your blog to meet you all!

A Hidden Passion

All items in Eye Desire's etsy shop are made of genuine Swarovski Crystals™, precious and semi-precious stones with sterling silver, fine silver, 24k gold vermeil and goldfill findings. Have fun looking through her Etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/EyeDesire where you are sure to find jewelries made with high quality materials in affordable prices.

by Eye Desire
I always enjoyed making something with my hands: making a piece of pottery, drawing something with a pencil, or making a small doily or a large shoal for my mother, etc., but I didn’t realize how much I enjoy making jewelry until I stumbled into it.

Many years ago, one of best friend of mine gave me few pieces of beautiful jewelry she made and I was fascinated by them. I didn’t know anything about jewelries or jewelry making, but I too wanted to create a beautiful piece of art. So one day, I finally went to a local hobby store and picked up a jewelry making kit and few books (yes, I am a self-taught jewelry artist). I had no idea I actually had a hidden passion about jewelry making until then.

Although I enjoy making something with my hands since I was a child, somehow my life took a different routes of profession all those years. My education background is accounting, corporate finance and management in undergraduate and graduate schools and I have been in the accounting/finance field over 20 years. I currently have a full time job as an accounting manager, but here I am exploring and using the other side of my brain to be more creative.

All creations in my shop are made of precious and semi-precious stones, sterling and fine silver, 24k gold vermeil, and 14k gold fill. I sometimes use Swarovski Crystals and mix with other beautiful semi-precious and natural stones. I use my living room/office as my studio. I have my laptop on a desk and all tools and materials are kept in individual boxes so that I can access to them easily.

I live in Texas with a loving family. I’m married to a wonderful man named Mark who supports my dream of creating beautiful jewelry, and have a wonderful son, Bryce, 20 who is in college. My mother who is inspiration of my life also lives with us, and I have a 7 year old female Cocker Spaniel named Boree.
