Lovely Little Studio

My Lovely Little Studio

I am excited to share some fabulous news with everyone!
I have just opened my very own studio/shop called Lovely Little Studio.  It is a quaint little room in an old Ministry of Natural Resources hanger (with ghosts I'm told). It is a warehouse style building with many smaller rooms. The local Pottery guild is attached to the hanger space in the building. It has a wonderful vintage/rustic feel with many local artisans sharing their wares- from vintage style jewellery, pottery, paintings, photography, collage, fiber art and much more! You will also find fabulous re-furbished vintage and antique furniture from many eras and times re-done in modern styles and colours to fit your home.

Here is a video that tells a bit about our little warehouse artisan space:

Come back often to see the progress of my studio space. I will share before and after pictures.

My love for crafting started back in 2000 when I took a beginners scrapbook class at a local Jo-Ann's store. I was immediately hooked. I have a love for paper, stamps, paint, ink, vintage, and anything and everything I can get my hands on and put on a canvas, scrapbook page or card.
Heart Plaster Mixed Media Original 11x14

I take online classes to learn new techniques and to practice more of what I am making. I opened my Etsy shop in May of 2012 after many of my friends saw what I was making and said that I needed to sell it. I have a passion for what I make. I always keep my art uplifting and bright. It makes me happy to see the smiles on peoples faces when they receive a piece of what I make.

Ask Me Studio
Be sure to visit Ask Me Studio's etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/Askmestudio where you will find art pieces that have a special message that will speak to your heart. A new line of Vintage Paper Gifts are also now available.

by Galen Click
I began the studio in 1999 in a storage closet inside my house.....today I have taken over most of my enclosed garage. I am self taught and make all the clay art either by slab or hand built. I make all my own stamps and use no molds. The paper art is new and I am having a blast with this new media. As always my art is always 3 dimensional. I try to convey inspiration, encouragement and love.

Top 10 reasons why I love you Bag of Hearts
My favorite quote is from my mother (who was also an artist) she always told me, "You can do anything". This always gave me the freedom to try to create anything, to attempt anything new and to not be afraid to try and fail the first time. I consider this the greatest gift she ever gave me.

Handbuilt Green Ceramic Vase

My advice....explore all media and incorporate them into what you know best.....never stop morphing your art. When you hit a dry spell, try something new because it ignites a fire of creativity.

Enjoy a visit to Arthouse 525 http://www.etsy.com/shop/Arthouse525 where you will discover fabulous one of a kind hand crafted items, art prints and original paintings.
Embellished bangles, bracelets, set of three, Gypsy, Hippie, BOHO, Bohemian, unique jewelry, beaded, red, turquoise, yellow
I have been creating for most of my life. Drawing, painting, making things: I love it all. Right now, I am focused on unique, one of a kind jewelry and fiber art. Next week, it may be back to painting.

I have areas set up all over the house where I can just start on whatever craft suits my mood. Luckily, my husband is an artist too, so he fully understands the need for multiple work stations. He likes the idea that our whole house is one big art studio. In fact, I overheard a conversation with his brother where he stated that we live in an "art house". So, that is where I got the name for my ETSY shop.: Arthouse525. "525" being our house number. The only room in the house that does not have art supplies in it is the master bedroom. I like to keep that room spotless and serene at all times.
Copper cuff, cuff, bracelet, vintage cuff with hand painted wooden bead, Green, teal, pink, yellow Sandra McCall at Arthouse525
The wall of art supplies in the photo of me was made by using scrap wood and ammo boxes. Here is a better photo of that. I have a how-to at this link on my blog- sandramccall.blog.com/2012/07/25/up-cycled-ammo-boxes/

My best studio tip for organization is to keep like items with like items and use labels on your storage bins. It saves time looking for supplies. Another good studio tip is to clean paintbrushes and knives that have dried acrylic paint on them with alcohol. Just submerge the bristles in a dish of rubbing alcohol, Leave for minutes, hours or days depending on how dirty the brush is. Even old, cruddy brushes come clean after a day or two.

My favorite quote- well, one of them anyway- is "In order to make your dreams come true, you first have to wake up!" That quote has been attributed to so many people that I honestly don't know who first said it. But it is so true!

Jewelry Designer ~ Marge Mills

Personal Designz
http://www.etsy.com/shop/PersonalDesignz

I started jewelry design about 7 years ago. Although I do all forms of Jewelry Design, my main focus is on Wire Wrapping. I love the technique and have even come up with my own style of "Free Form Wire Wrapping" . This gives me the opportunity to show off more of the gemstone that I am working with than the traditional form of wire wrapping as you do not have to cover as much of the stone to hold it in place. This lets the true beauty of the gemstone come out in the piece.

I have also tried beading, polymer clay, silver metal clay and seed beadwork. But I always come back to my wire wrapping. Sometimes I will just see a gemstone that calls out to me to make a setting for it. But a lot of the time it is a client who is responsible for my return to bending wires.I love to design settings for gemstones and actually spend a lot of my time designing pieces with stones my clients have that they love but are just not happy with in their present setting. I take out the stones and redesign a new piece for them that they will enjoy with stones that have sentimental meaning to them...This brings me as much joy as it does them to see that stone in the new design.

All of my designs are one of a kind...I like that I can offer that to my clients.

That is what sets us apart from the jewelry found in department stores... handcrafted jewelry should have an individuality about it that the client can not find in just any store. I love being able to give that option to them.
My inspiration in the arts comes from my Mother... she was a gifted artist... and a career seamstress. I never grew to love sewing although I was taught from an early age and can do what I need to when the need arises to sew, but the love for art became evident when I started to paint.I owe that to a client of mine.. I am a retired colorist/stylist. I had a very dear client who was a gifted oil painter. I always envied her ability and one day as we were discussing her latest art piece, I told her how much I envied her being able to put the ideas in her head down on canvas. She quickly told me that she would mentor me in my attempt to paint and that if she felt that I did not have the potential, as a former teacher she would tell me and I would know if I had any ability or not. That was 12 years ago and I still love to paint. The love for the arts spilled over into jewelry design some 5 years later and I have never turned back since. I love what I do and if it gives others pleasure, then it is that much better.

I urge every person who has that inner desire to create to go for it, do whatever it is that you have that desire to do. You will get such enjoyment out of creating and what you create may
just bring joy to another. We all have abilities that we are not aware of and sometimes it just takes another person to bring out the best in us...

I am fortunate enough to have a 2 story house with a loft upstairs which is my little corner of the world. My office is there as well as my art studio. My first love is oil painting  and I still try to devote time to it whenever I get the chance. The room is large enough that I have a corner dedicated to jewelry design. I love to go to my private space for some real quiet and relaxation time.

One of my favorite quotes:
Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.

Where The Grass is Greener

Visit Renee's lovely Etsy Shops http://www.etsy.com/shop/WheretheGrassisGreen and http://www.etsy.com/shop/Countrytagsale where you are sure to find charming one-of-a-kind gifts.
Find vintage items that were altered or embellished to create an elegant country cottage chic look.

By Renee Houston Zemanski

I am a writer and an artist (I’ve waited a long time to add that artist title, but I feel that I have finally earned it). I am passionate about creating one-of-a-kind art, antiquing, writing, photography and my family. My little Etsy shop, “Where the Grass is Greener,” is where I sell my art. I take ordinary objects, purchased at antique stores, flea markets and tag sales to create unique works of art for people’s homes. I also have an Etsy vintage shop called “Country Tag Sale.” That’s where I sell the vintage findings that I can’t bear to take apart and repurpose.

I love the thrill of the hunt for old things that can be recycled or upcycled. Basically, I see potential in other people's junk. The best part of finding vintage items is researching the history behind each item; I learn something every day and I love to share those stories when I can.

I began my business refurbishing and hand-painting furniture when I had a large studio to work in and store things. I recently lost my studio space, so now I’m concentrating on much smaller works of art (much easier to ship, too). While I have an office for writing, the back of my (very long) closet/laundry room serves as my little art studio – this tends to spread out to the rest of the house, though. The absolute best part of working on my own is the flexibility it allows me so I can spend time with my kids when they need me.

I’ve always been creative (or at least that’s what my friends and family tell me). My dad is very handy and my mom and sister are both artistic – my sis has a jewelry shop on Etsy, staciejewelry.

I have two Etsy stores, a blog and a website for my furniture (furniture that I am trying to sell so I can park my car this winter). Stop by my blog and say “hello.”

Natural Wonders

Enjoy a visit to Roxanne's beautiful Etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/watercolorsNmore.%20She  She is a talented watercolor artist. Her love of nature, birdlife, scenery, flora and fauna is reflected in her paintings.

by watercolorsNmore
My name is Roxanne Tobaison, I live in sunny, central Florida – USA, and married with 2 daughters
Media of choice is watercolors and I have been painting since 1979. After the birth of my first daughter, I tried my hand at oil painting then watercolors. I was hooked and have never stopped since.

I am a Florida native and the area is brimming over with natural wonders, treasures, beauty and so many historical landmarks. Did I mention…I love the history of our area, which the Tampa Bay area is extremely rich. I paint to preserve and many of them are commissioned works.

You can say my watercolors are: Frameable, Wearable and Collectable.Above all, my camera is my best friend. I take all my reference shots. My materials are watercolors, acrylics and occasionally pen and inks. Most of my works are representational and realistic; however I have enjoyed some abstracts as seen mostly in my pendants.

Recently, I added a line of glass tile pendants necklaces that showcase my original watercolor paintings. These are affordable pieces of art that can be enjoyed and worn too. I title these pieces and take pride in the little originals. Also I have started doing ACEO’s which are like baseball trading cards – artists trading cards which are collectable

The main thing is that I feel blessed to have this talent and that others like it. Of course we like to sell, but it’s therapeutic, fulfilling and great when someone likes what you do. Get rich doing it – I DON’T think so….but riches can be measured in many ways.

Having retired from the art festivals show after 30 years, I stumbled onto Etsy when purchasing from some of the fabulous craftsman and artisans. Why not give it a go??? What would I have to lose?? Didn’t actual realize the time involvement or the addiction!

Each day is an adventure in itself. With my morning coffee, to jumpstart myself, I read the Bible and then off to Etsy, go exercise and back to etsy… Work around the house and errands, then back to etsy…You know, I actually DO paint too! Then back to etsy. I think you get the picture…my husband sure does. He calls me an etsy-acholic.

I also have become addicted to treasuries. I love to make them and discover all these great new shops and products, but love to check them out.

Another hobby is: Exercise. This provides a great escape and keeps you trim – yeah, right.
Well, it’s fun anyway.

"Cartoonist, Illustrator, Animator, craftsperson... I just love to draw!

Enjoy a visit to the whimsically wonderful etsy shop Skribbly Kids http://www.etsy.com/shop/SkribblyKids .
Meet the artist:
"Cartoonist, Illustrator, Animator, craftsperson... I just love to draw!My day job is as a Motion Graphics/ Visual Effects artist. I work mostly on movies and tv shows. In my spare time Etsy keeps me very busy with custom logo designs, portraits, and cartoons. My inspiration seems to feed off of keeping creative at all times."

by SkribblyKids

I create oh-so-cute characters that I have been putting on cards. I love drawing all sorts of animals and aliens! I'm always doodling, so I do the first draft basically anywhere.

I then scan it in, and use a number of different programs to get the look that I want. I love using Flash for illustration purposes. It's really easy to get smooth and crisp lines. I suggest every illustrator to try it out!

Victorian Princess or Dark Gothic Queen

Be sure to stop by and visit Jilted Coquette etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/JiltedCoquette . You will find " pieces that are inspired by Gothic Lolita fashion from Japan" where she strives to "create quality unique pieces that will transform you into a delicate Victorian princess, or a dark Gothic queen".

by Jilted Coquette

For many years I have been in love with Japanese fashion, and more specifically with Lolita and Aristocrat trends. While they are subcultures themselves, there are many subcultures contained within them. I try to create a variety of Lolita and Aristocrat styles, so that no matter your preference, classic or punk, gothic or sweet, you will find something that appeals to your personal tastes.

Part of my motivation for starting Jilted Coquette was the insatiable need to create. I’m a very tactile individual so working directly with a material is more satisfying to me than drawing or painting. My artistic roots are in Printmaking and New Genres, so I’m an odd combination of meticulous processes and subversion; I pay great attention to the smallest of details but also like to push boundaries, especially to an absurd extent.

The second half of my motivation came from the high price and inaccessibility of Lolita and Aristocrat items in the US. If you want to buy a name brand piece, you will have to order it online and have it shipped internationally, or find someone online via forums who is reselling items, often used. A simply adorned name brand headdress can easily cost $40 US while more elaborate pieces can price for much higher. I strive to create pieces that are not only beautiful and intricate, but also affordable.

While I derive my inspiration from a variety of Aristocrat and Lolita styles, it is not my intention to replicate a specific brand style. Each adornment is one of a kind and a labor of love. At the risk of over romanticizing them, deep down I consider each one to be a work of art.

I began making hair adornments earlier this year, and only opened my etsy shop in late May. I consider my work with Jilted Coquette to be a full time job and easily spend 10-12 hours a day creating and promoting my pieces. Having studied art and not business, I’m unfamiliar with entrepreneurship but I hope that, with hard work and dedication, I will one day be successful enough to open my own storefront.

Help Someone Bring Out the Best in Themselves

"Anna Pereira, artist, entrepreneur, and former owner of the brand Super Sexy, has been painting and drawing since her early childhood and had won awards for her artwork in her youth. With her impeccable skills in airbrush and free hand painting and her amazing ability to transform a basic shirt into a jeweled corset, Anna was creating her artwork for clothing rather then canvas. She is a skilled artist and painter who had chosen to display her work on various styles of t-shirts and tank tops, with the goal of allowing women to feel confident, expressive and yes, Super Sexy!"
Have fun visiting her shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/AnnaPereira!

by Anna Pereira

Is it really worth getting up in the morning if you don't make a positive contribution to society, Earth or yourself? I like to feel good and I love making others feel good. There isn't a greater reward than helping someone to bring out the best in themselves.

My name is Anna and I have a hand painted and printed clothing line. I custom make shirts via screen print techniques and free hand dye effects and paint splatter. I mix my own dyes and paints and create my own screens. Also, I have a luxury handmade soap line that is decadent and pampering! My purpose is to help you feel and look your best.

I believe in positive energy and the law of attraction. If you believe it, you can live it. This has been a major influence that you can prominently see in my clothing line as well as my soap line aptly named "Angel Kissed" luxury soaps.

I live in NJ and my studio is located here. Every day I am doing something creative and hope to be an inspiration to others through my work and my friendship. My personal message: "Be good to yourself. Smile. And believe you can have and do anything. Maintain a positive attitude because even when you are down and you take a moment to realize how blessed you truly are, you will rise up out of your funk. Have gratitude. Help others. Stay focused."

Have a truly Blessed day!
