Every Pretty Thing

Organize your tools and supplies in places that are easy to reach. When you are on a creative roll, you want to be able to find what you are looking for! Keep things in little bins or containers that you can bring with you wherever you create.

Where do you keep your supplies and tools so that they are easily accessible?

Jewelry Box, Monograms, Nursery Art, Bridal Shower Gifts...anything you see can be custom-made according to your specifications http://www.etsy.com/shop/EveryPrettyThing . This means that Jackie can change color scheme or size! She welcomes custom orders, and loves the opportunity to work on huge canvases, so don't be afraid to ask if you have wonderful ideas!

I'm Jackie of EveryPrettyThing, and I make a ton of things! I started out with nursery art canvases with decoupaged animals, and then expanded into decoupaged jewelry boxes of all shapes and sizes, and then expanded into pillows inspired by my canvases.

I've recently added a dark-stained men's jewelry box (for cuff links and watches and such) that I absolutely love! I work in my half of the home office. It was getting a little cramped until I got a big table for craft fairs...we set it up to see how big it was, and it magically became my new crafting table! This may have irked the husband a little, but I think it's lovely! Now I have lots of room to spread out. The threat of "If it gets messy, it'll have to go!" is the best motivation for staying organized...I don't want to lose my big table!

I make very sure that I clean up every little scrap of paper every night (a task I used to be terrible about putting off until I was buried!). I find that if I clean my workspace every day, it doesn't get unmanageable. I know that seems like a no-brainer, but I'm a lazy thing and don't like to do that, so it was a big breakthrough for me!

Let The Right Brain Do It's Thing

Take the time to enjoy a visit to the Spiffy Grape http://www.etsy.com/shop/SpiffyGrape a fabulous Etsy shop where you will find many handmade unique goodies.

by SpiffyGrape
I'm such a romantic; passionate about everything in my life, especially where my talents lie. I'm lucky to have tremendous creative support from my family, friends and my wonderful boyfriend! I believe life is much better when tied with a ribbon and topped with a bow, so I am sure to include these essentials in both the products and packages from my Etsy shop.
My shop has lots of variety, mostly because get too excited for new concepts I have and can't seem to stick to one for more than a few days.

Currently I'm working on new jewelry designs, and also more reconstructed clothing for the spring and summer seasons. Soon I'll be adding more paper crafts, such as party-hat sets and handmade cards.
I have several work spaces: a jewelry desk, a sewing area and a general art table for everything else. I always make a mess, but always (eventually) tidy up. A cluttered space makes for a cluttered mind.
Advice for others is to be sure to make time for your creative and imaginative abilities. Doing so is a great way to wind down, have some alone time and let the right brain do it's thing!

Cash, Barter, A Delicously Intense Stitch

Enjoy a visit to http://waywardradish.etsy.com/ for a wonderful voyage of delightful colours and design.

Hand embroidery is a very portable art. Needle. Thread. Scissors. Always good for cash or barter. Perfect for a wandering hippie decades ago. Especially one with no clock in her life. Me. Now,though,I have clocks. But this is the calm. A deliciously intense stitch. A bullion knot. A raised cup. A solid square inch can take over an hour. For me, that's fun. Also why I still have a "day job."My Etsy shop focuses on embroidered jewelry. Stuffed earrings, for instance. Tiny or big. All weightless. Pictures never quite convey the smile of them. But seeing them on yourself, on another woman, all wariness goes poof! That I enjoy.

My work space = my couch + my coffee table. My couch is also my photo backdrop. I try to separate my embroidery floss by color but they always end up in a heap. For me, disorder feeds creativity. I expect to have a Collyer Brothers demise under embroidery thread.

Education? Several Erica Wilson crewel kits and her writing. She is my true inspiration.Hope you visit my shop: http://waywardradish.etsy.com/ (double click photos to zoom). To see archival photos of the obsessive denim of my hippie days: http://www.flickr/photos/waywardradish.com

Where There Is A Will, There Is A Place!

Creative spaces come in many shapes and sizes. Where we choose to create is not as important as what we enjoy creating. If there is a will, there is a way and a PLACE! I love to find out where others enjoy creating. Often we choose the places that we feel most comfortable. Cheezombie shared this with me when I asked her to send a picture of her creative space. I think she has the best workspace! It is one of my favourite places to create as well.

By creative space do you mean like a studio, or workroom? I pretty much sit on my couch and knit. Would you like a picture of my couch? I'm not sure what to do about that :)!

Hee-hee!

My favorite things to knit are soft sculpture creatures of all kinds. After knitting everybody elses patterns, I got sick of stitching together the little pieces that they all seemed to be made from. So I started making my own patterns, streamlined and simplified in design in order to have as few seams to sew as possible.I'm heavily influenced by british animation, the ocean, George Romero, and Coca Cola. The blog is mostly a photo gallery, but I'm trying to add more.
