I am a stay at home mom to 3 boys; ages 9, 13, and 41. Ok, the 41 year old is my husband, but he still acts like a kid. We live in NW Ohio but I have lived all over: CA, MN, WI, IN, OH. My main job is being a mom. And as you know, mother's don't get a paycheck. So after much prompting from family and friends, I opened my Etsy store. My goal in selling is to make some money that I can call my own.
I absolutely love all forms of crafting. Right now, I am making felted purses out of recycled wool sweaters. I had knit a purse that I felted and loved the look of it. But knitting takes alot of patience and time. And you have to follow a pattern! So I decided DUH! there's wool sweaters out there that I can felt and design my own bags and purses. There is much joy in searching the racks at Goodwill or Salvation Army to find the perfect sweater. I have a basic "pattern" that I make, but I love adding buttons, embroidery, ribbon to make each purse unique and fun.
Soon, I am going to add to my store, customized bags. This idea came out of something sad for me. In November, my Uncle Jim passed away after an 18 month battle with cancer. I got a wool sweater of his and made my Aunt Thieleane (the one I'm named after) a purse out of it. She now has a little piece of something that was his to carry with her.
So that's my story. Please visit my store or become a facebook fan (www.facebook.com/atthebrink).
Enjoy and Shine On!
