My name is Linda (or Lou as my Dad calls me!).
I am a Mother of 2 grown daughters and Nana to an incredible Grandson.


My Grandma taught me to knit at the age of 7 and I’ve had knitting needles or a crochet
hook in my hands ever since! I love creating things that people will use and enjoy! It is so
thrilling to send my creations all over the world! I use only quality yarn and materials.



















My Father always told me “if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right!” How true Dad!
My youngest daughter, who is disabled, and my grandson live with me so I am very blessed
that I have an extra room that is my “knitting room”. My daughters and my Mom call it my
happy place! It is cluttered and crowded at times but it is my little place in the world that is
all mine for creativity and sanity.

Lou’s Knitting Room is a real place where I create, dream and work. I see things in my mind and
then make them with my yarn.

 I love doing custom orders so please don’t hesitate to ask for
something special! I enjoy working with a wide variety of yarns and materials. I’m always
experimenting. I also donate items to charity, chemo caps, baby blankets and special Olympic
scarves. Giving back is so important.

ETSY has given me the ‘wings’ I needed to do what I love! My world has been so enriched by
all the talented, wonderful and supportive new friends I have met here on ETSY!

I am married, live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my two Miniature Pinschers and an Amazon Parrot. Luckily my husband doesn't mind living with a creative woman...he never knows what will be changed or added when he comes home!

 

I can remember being creative all my life. Both of my grandmothers and my mother are all really creative women so it was natural that I would follow in their paths. I learned to crochet at age 11 from my Nonna and everything else from my mom and Grandmother. My Mom and I still go to numerous craft events and classes when we can, we have a blast!

I always had a crafting class weather it was wood working, metal shop, arts and crafts or sewing all throughout my school years. I started selling on Etsy after my shoulder therapist said that beading would be good therapy for my carpal tunnel. So after accumulating numerous earrings and bracelets Bling N Things by Penny was started. A girl can only wear so much jewelry, lol.

I have since expanded to selling my Scrapbooks, Journals, Jewelry Boxes as well as my Jewelry. I never know what I'll be in the mood to create and I love the idea that I can share my items with people all over the world. When I had my first sale I was so excited as I am with every sale there after and the first international sale I was scared to death that it wouldn't make it there, lol.

Since then I have become a leader on the wonderful STAT (Self Taught Artists Treasury) Team where I have made friends with some really talented people who are also so very supportive!

I've been a very creative person since day one. I guess it's inherited, both my mother and my grandmother did oil painting and all kinds of crafts. I still have fond memories of quietly watching my mom paint for hours when I was five or six.

I learned how to make handmade bows when I worked at a local craft store, and when I lost my job, and was unable to find another one, I decided to use my creative talents and the knowledge that I had learned to start my own shop.

My goal with the bows and related items that I sell, is to make them appealing to all ages and walks of life. Bows aren't just ultra feminine, or stuff from grandma's attic. I try to use materials and techniques that make anyone of any age fall in love with them.

The only advice I can think to give others is "Use what you have!". I started out with practically no money to spare on materials for my shop, so I bought clearance items, I used materials that I already had stored up around my house (I'm a collector), and it's amazing the uses you can find for everyday items.

Box after box of photographs. Vacations, holidays, weddings, birthdays and just because pictures. What is one to do with all those pictures? I scrap them. Over the years I have made calendars for my family to give as gifts at Christmas. The joy and laughter is so rewarding. These pictures will be cherished forever. I add some journaling, but most of the journaling is completed by the recipient. At the end of the year, family members return the calendars to me and I then scrap them into a 12 x 12 memory album and add more embellishments and papers. These albums are then returned as another gift for birthdays or Mother’s Day.

I have been a member of Etsy since November, 2009. I wanted to offer supplies that I use to create with to other creative artists. You can find stickers, ribbons, brads, buttons, rub-ons, stencils, punches, tools and many other crafting supplies. These supplies can be used for memory albums, cards, invitations, sewing, and many other crafting projects. You will also find craft supplies for children. They need to be creative too.

My work area is still under construction, but I moved in anyway. I guess you could say I had ants in my pants.

"I started the way many people have – no one sold what I wanted to wear! I’ve always been the crafty type, as in I can paint/modify/improve that. Drives my family crazy!! So when the necklace I was looking for didn’t exist, I headed off to the craft store, bought the supplies and made it myself. One necklace led to two, then some simple earrings, stretchy bracelets, how-to websites, jewelry design books, etc., etc., etc. And here I am now, sharing my creations with the world!"

I try to be totally unique, creative, and cool, and create pieces that I would wear. And I am NOT a sparkly kind of girl, so my creations are more earthy and natural. Inspiration strikes at the oddest times - walking through the mall, brushing my teeth, and especially boring work meetings. I always come out of them with many little drawings of ideas!

My workspace is my kitchen counter, with the overflow taking over the dining room table. Supplies are stored in the china cabinet. Plastic organizer boxes hold beads sorted by type and color. Findings are similarly separated. The storage system has gone through quite a few changes, but this is working best for me... at the moment. My organization suggestion is be flexible! Experiment with what suits your design needs best and don't be surprised when you have to change it to make that happen.

Funky and Fun

The older I get, the more hip and funky I get. Hmmm... is that the true definition of eccentric? About a year ago, I became bored with the jewelry I was finding in stores. Being an I can make/paint/modify/improve that kind of person, I tried my hand at making a few simple pieces. Not difficult and definitely fun! This continued until I had more things than I could ever wear in a year. Oops! So I decided that maybe the world would like my creations as much as I do.

I try to be totally unique, creative, and cool. For example my Beer Beads, which are made from recycled beer labels. I try to use natural materials and earthy colors... but not always (see previous sentence)!

Plastic snack bags hold beads sorted by color - very easy to pull out the purple bag and see the bead you want. Findings are in labeled plastic storage containers. And the shop name?

My husband’s college roommate came up with it while trying to name a band. The band never formed, but I loved the name and it stuck in my head. At last I finally found a use for it!
