by The Paper Theatre
"Having a love of all things funny, naughty, vintage and yummy, I merged them all in my Paper Theatre
Boutique. Featuring boxes of scrumptious chocolate candy for Valentine’s Day with love coupons inside,
Valentine cards, bookmarks and tasty Gum in adorable resealable boxes.

My Paper Theatre products are covered with funny vintage vignette labels that I designed using antique photographs/illustrations that I colorized, color-corrected, and added my cute quotes! I create all of my products from my home office which I designed. I just took black paint and started painting. No drawing out first. Being surrounded by a pretend stage, a desk full of toys on top, and my Silly puppy Poni, I am constantly inspired. My husband’s handsomeness and the fact that he makes me a full breakfast every morning is very inspiring as well. My home and office are just different extensions of my artwork. I take great pride in decorating them as well as taking care of them. I think the more you love your home, and office/craft room, the more you are apt to take care of them.

Simple steps in staying organized, don’t overdo, don’t over commit, cuff your hands if you have to but don’t start a new project if your work space and home are a wreck. Keep all things in balance and you’ll be a better artist as well as business person. Make your office a place of love that is one of your creations as well. A showroom. My products (not on etsy) have been featured in over 30 national magazines and several times the editors wanted to see my showroom. Have a showroom for when its your turn. After all you are an artist, and your office is really your show place for your art. As I say in my Paper Theatre Boutique, “Life’s A Stage! Make sure your act counts.”

Top 10 Excuses For Spending Time In Your Studio

Coming Soon to The Red Door
http://www.thereddoor.etsy.com/

From Cloth Paper Scissors STUDIO
1. It's cheaper than therapy (the overwhelming "winner").
2. I don't need an excuse.
3. It's less fattening than chocolate.
4. The muses (fabric, paint, etc.) are calling me.
5. I bought all these (fabric, stamps, paints etc.), now I have to
use them or it will be a waste.
6. If I don't do it you'll be sorry.
7. I have a DEADLINE.
8. I have to "clean" the art room.
9. You have your (bowling, golf ) time, I have my stusio time.
10. I'm saving money by making gifts.

What is your favourite excuse. Send me a comment and I will add them!

It's Great Fun To See What Other Studios Look Like

I look at Robin Egg's studio and I can picture how wonderful it must be to create in this space. To add fun music, tea and chocolate just makes it that much more fabulous. Looooove your shop!
Robin's Eggs Studio

Hi Kerry! What an awesome series you're doing. It's great fun to see what other studios look like.

Welcome to robin's egg studio! The entire setup is tucked into an alcove in the master bedroom. This space was destined to become an artist's studio: the former resident of the bedroom was an artist too! There must be something in the air. All my work is done at a six-foot table, and mostly at night after my two little ones are tucked in.
The environment is as fun as I can make it: there's always upbeat music playing, a cup of tea or some chocolates nearby, and my children's artwork and photos are pinned to my bulletin board. As you can see I've got my paints, fabrics and such in a rolling cart that can get stashed away when I'm done for the night. I've had to hang my pieces on the walls as they're finished...no room elsewhere! It's nice to see how they look hung up, actually.
I've had to be extremely organized and have my little plastic sets of drawers nerdily labeled so I can find everything. In the future, the studio will be painted (robin's egg blue, of course) and have pretty curtains and a LOT more lighting. A utility sink would be great too, but there is no room and the bathroom is just steps away. A girl can dream, can't she? Thanks for visiting the studio!
